These images were captured using an infrared-converted camera. In short this means that the filter which only allows visible light to reach the sensor is replaced by one which lets in only wavelengths above a set value. This camera is only sensitive to wavelengths of 720 nm and above which includes just a bit of the visible spectrum and infrared wavelengths. The resulting images can be processed to high contrast monochrome or false colour by using what is left of the visible wavelengths. The result is a different view on the world where lush greenery is turned into a white snowscape and blue skies go dark.
